Trade Practices Division
The Trade Practices Division works to protect consumers from financial harm resulting from work performed in the occupational and professional trades, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, real estate, real estate appraisal, professional engineering, and heating and cooling.
In addition, the division’s Product Safety and Bedding Unit enforces many safety regulations for toys and other children’s articles. Important laws include the Connecticut State Child Protection Act and the Federal Consumer Product Safety Act.
The Division also regulates real estate and administers the Lemon Law (New Vehicle Dispute Resolution) program for the state.
