Home Improvement Contractor
Under the Connecticut Home Improvement Act, an individual and/or business is required to register with the Department of Consumer Protection if they are contracting with a consumer to perform work on residential property. Home Improvement is any permanent change to residential property, including but not limited to driveways, swimming pools, porches, garages, roofs, siding, insulation, flooring, patios, landscaping, painting, fences, doors and windows, and waterproofing.

Home Improvement Salesperson
A salesperson is any individual who negotiates or offers to negotiate a home improvement contract with a consumer, or solicits, or otherwise endeavors to procure by any means whatever, directly or indirectly, a home improvement contract from a consumer on behalf of a home improvement contractor.

- Renewals: Home Improvement Contractor and Salesperson registrations expire annually on November 30th. Renewal notices are mailed approximately 30 – 45 days prior to the expiration date.
