The Department of Consumer Protection issued an administrative complaint today against Lloyd Bowden and Bowden Development TLI LLC, of Essex, Connecticut, for violations of state laws regarding the New Home Construction Contractors Act  and  the Unfair Trade Practices Act, Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr, announced.

Consumers Urged to Check for and Return Recalled Ground Beef Products that May Contain Plastic Pieces   The Department is encouraging consumers to check packages of recently purchased packages of ground beef, in light of an announcement yesterday that Fairbank Reconstruction Corporation of Ashville, NY, is voluntarily recalling approximately 22,481 pounds of ground beef products that may contain pieces of plastic. The products were produced on May 3rd and distributed to Price Chopper, Shaw’s and BJ’s stores in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts and New York.

Department Alerts Consumers to Recall of Baby Bottle and Food Warmers, Due to Fire Hazard    Product Safety Inspectors are conducting recall effectiveness checks in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s voluntary recall of Munchkin Deluxe Bottle and Food Warmers, manufactured in China for Munchkin Inc., of North Hills, California, due to a fire hazard.

Hundreds of state residents turned out last weekend at six locations statewide, with more than 9 tons of personal documents to be shredded at a free event sponsored by the Department, Shred-It, and WFSB. The response was so positive that another widespread shredding event is scheduled on Saturday, September 13th.  Exact locations will be posted in the next few weeks on this website.
