The result of a traumatic experience is one of profound disconnect and loss.  Violence and victimization alter an individual's connection to self, others and the world.  Rebuilding connection is what peer support is all about.  This training will examine the peer support role through the lens of trauma and the challenges and opportunities that emerge when we take trauma into account in the recovery journey.  Discussion will explore the following questions:  what is the common experience in peer support; how does unaddressed trauma play out in our relationships; and what is the role of mutual responsibility in trauma healing.  Participants will be introduced to Tasks and Principles of Intentional Peer Support (Mead) and will have an opportunity to role play some of the learning from this workshop.
