COURSE DESCRIPTION: Have you ever suspected that your client may be a victim of Human Trafficking? In this course participants will be introduced to Human Trafficking as a global, federal, and state issue. The course will define and examine the three categories of human trafficking victims, with a particular emphasis on children who are victims of domestic minor sex trafficking, and provide an overview of the CT DCF response. If you are interested in this topic area, this class if for you.
The purpose of this training is to:
Educate participants by providing an overview of the scope of Human Trafficking at the global, federal, and state levels.
Define Human Trafficking and Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking in Federal and State Laws.
Redefine child prostitutes as victims of Human Trafficking.
Familiarize staff with an overview of the risk and variablesthat make youth vulnerable for commercial sexual exploitation.
Improve and increase awareness of victims andperpetrators.
Identify possible indicators of human trafficking/domestic minor sex trafficking and how to respond.
Educate staff on DCF policies, protocols, and challenges for responding to human trafficking.
Promote the need for a coordinated community response to human trafficking/domestic minor sex trafficking.
