DCF Changes the Name of the "Hotline" to the "Careline"
At the center of all the change pulsing through the Department is the belief that strengthening families is the most important way to improve children's long-term well-being. In a fundamental way, children only do as well as their family. This idea lies at the heart of our Strengthening Families Practice Model and the implementation of the Differential Response System (DRS).
The Strengthening Families Practice Model and DRS afford the Department a way to build relationships with families that ultimately benefit the child. These practices have the promise to fundamentally change the Department's work with families and communities.
Consistent with the philosophy of Strengthening Families, and feedback from our State Advisory Council and other partners, we are changing the name of "Investigations" to "Intake" and the "Hotline" to the "Careline." The words we use to identify and describe our work need to change as we change the nature of our work, and these names more aptly capture the spirit of collaboration with families that we must build and nurture in order to ensure the holistic well-being of children.
