Volunteers

The Veterans Home appreciates the support and devotion of its dedicated volunteers. 

Volunteer services are provided by individuals and groups.

Volunteers complete an application process (click here for application form) and are certified for patient contact upon completion of training and orientation classes.  Classes are scheduled quarterly. 

To assist us in matching your interests with our needs, please fill out our "Survey of Volunteer Interests Form" and send in with your application.

 Individual Volunteer Activities at the Veterans Home

   1. Assistance with patient therapeutic recreation programs such as table games, bingo, art and music therapy

   2. Individual patient visits, reading to patients, wheelchair escort to activities, and other individual patient activities

   3. Pet therapy with patient visits from volunteers and their certified pet therapy dogs

   4. Clerical and organizational volunteers who help with events and programs throughout the year

Group Volunteer Activities

Veterans and Community Groups also provide important recreational opportunities for our veterans.  Groups conduct Bingo games, Card nights, Picnics and other activities throughout the year for the patients in the heathcare facility and for the resident veterans in the Domicile.  Please contact the Recreation Department at 800-550-0000 X 2468 to schedule evening or weekend game activities at the Veterans Home.

"Wish List" (click here)- Volunteers and donors enhance the programs and quality of life for the veterans who live at the Veterans Home by donating the little "extras" throughout the year.  Here is a list of the kind of items that are especially appreciated by the veterans.
