Occupational Therapists provide goal directed, purposeful activity to aid in the development of adaptive skills and performance capacities for individuals of all ages who have physical disabilities and related psychological impairment(s). OT is designed to maximize independence, prevent further disability, and maintain health. The OT department provides adaptive equipment to any patient on an as needed basis and actively consults with the nursing department in ensuring maximum comfort for the patient with wheelchair and positioning concerns. The OT department assists with dining activities and in conducting rounds for safe swallowing practices.
