  {Gov Rell unveils statue for women veterans}

Gov Rell and Commissioner Schwartz unveiled a statue honoring women veterans at the State Capitol

Nearly 20% of today's active armed forces are women.  There are many new resources to assist women veterans.  The Connecticut Department of Veterans' Affairs is proud that our commissioner, Dr. Linda S. Schwartz, Maj, USAF (ret) is a distinguished woman veteran.

The Connecticut Department of Veterans' Affairs also has a Veterans Service Officer who is a woman veteran and can assist in obtaining help unique to other women veterans.  Please contact Ann James at 203-931-0460 or anne.james@po.state.ct.us

The federal VA offers a website especially for women veterans:

http://www.publichealth.va.gov/womenshealth/

Governor M. Jodi Rell, when she served as Lt Governor, was instrumental in obtaining funding to support the creation of the National Women Veterans Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.  Please visit this important website

The Connecticut Department of Veterans’ Affairs maintains a database of contact information for women veterans of our state.  We use this information to inform women veterans of events and important information.  If you are interested in participating, please contact Cathy Cook, Director of Community Affairs at (860) 721-5826 or Catherine.Cook@po.state.ct.us
