RE:                  DOCKET NO. 432 Feasibility study of back-up power requirements for telecommunications towers and antennas pursuant to Public Act 12-148.

In recognition of the fact that state agencies and wireless carrier participants in the above-referenced proceeding are involved in emergency response and recovery measures relative to Hurricane Sandy, the Connecticut Siting Council (Council) announces that the public hearing scheduled for November 1, 2012 at 11 AM is cancelled.

The purpose and intent of Public Act 12-148 is to study the feasibility of backup power requirements for telecommunications towers and antennas in the state to ensure continuous and reliable provision of wireless telecommunications services during times of emergency and natural disaster. At this time, in the wake of this most recent storm, the Council shall postpone the public hearing to facilitate recovery efforts and to allow for the incorporation of additional information regarding the provision of backup power during Hurricane Sandy.
