New Britain Woman Sentenced to Prison for Thefts from Employer

A New Britain woman will serve five years in prison for stealing more than $60,000 from her employer.

Rachel Cosme, age 38, of New Britain was convicted in New Britain Superior Court of Larceny in the First Degree.

Judge Hillary B. Strackbein sentenced Cosme to 15 years in prison, execution suspended after 5 years served, to be followed by 3 years of probation.

Cosme was convicted of taking more than $60,000 between April of 2009 and February of 2011 from her employer  through unauthorized purchases with a company credit card, forged company checks and fraudulent cash advances.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Brett J. Salafia.
