CSAO: Hartford Mini-Market Closed for Illegal Liquor Sales

Hartford Mini-Market Closed for Illegal Liquor Sales

A Hartford mini-market cited for liquor and drug violations has been temporarily closed under the state's Nuisance Abatement and Quality of Life Act.

Superior Court Judge Julia L. Aurigemma granted a request this week from the Nuisance Abatement Unit in the Office of the Chief State's Attorney shutting down the Roque Mini Market at 556 Zion Street in Hartford.

The order will remain in effect pending a hearing on October 19, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. in Hartford Superior Court, 95 Washington Street.

The Nuisance Abatement action follows an investigation by Hartford Police that found that the market continued to sell liquor after its grocery beer permit was suspended for illegal sales.

According to the state's Nuisance Abatement filing, between March 6, 2009, and August 20, 2009, at least four people were arrested for a total of five counts of Disposing of Liquor without a Permit and one drug violation.

The owners/operators of the market are identified in court documents as Ydalio Jiminian and Jeffrey Jiminian.

Under the Nuisance Abatement and Quality of Life Act, state prosecutors will now work to fashion a court remedy to correct the ongoing problems at the property.
