Criminal Justice Commission Announces Reappointments

The Honorable Andrew J. McDonald, Chair of the Criminal Justice Commission, announced that the Commission approved the following reappointments at its meeting today at the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney in Rocky Hill:

  • JOHN J. RUSSOTTO was reappointed as Deputy Chief State’s Attorney for Personnel, Finance and Administration. A prosecutor since 1997, he has served as Deputy Chief State’s Attorney since 2004 overseeing the administrative functions of the Division of Criminal Justice from the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney.

  • RICHARD J. COLANGELO, JR., was reappointed as State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk. A prosecutor since 1993, he has served as State’s Attorney since July 2015 for the district that includes the cities of Stamford and Norwalk and the towns of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Weston, Westport and Wilton.

  • KEVIN D. LAWLOR was reappointed as State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Ansonia/Milford. He began his career as a prosecutor in 1995 and has served as State’s Attorney since June 2006 for the district that includes the cities of Ansonia, Milford, Derby and Shelton and towns of Beacon Falls, Orange, Oxford and Seymour.

  • STEPHEN J. SEDENSKY III was reappointed as State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Danbury. A prosecutor since July 1984, he has served as State’s Attorney since February 2007 for the district that includes the city of Danbury and towns of Bethel, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield and Sherman.

The Deputy Chief State’s Attorney was reappointed for a four-year term and the State’s Attorneys for eight-year terms, all commencing on July 1, 2018.

Established pursuant to Article XXIII of the Connecticut Constitution, the Criminal Justice Commission is responsible for the appointment of all state prosecutors in Connecticut. In addition to Justice McDonald, Associate Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, its membership includes the Honorable Juliett L. Crawford, Judge of the Superior Court, attorneys Mary M. Galvin, Eric George, Moy N. Ogilvie and Erick A. Russell and Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane.
