Online Change in License Information - Individual & Business Entity (All License Types)
The ability to make changes to licensing information for both individuals and business entities is now available online. Use the following URL:
For Business Entities:
To add or change a DBA name (Producers ONLY) - Click on Manage DBA Names *
To add or change a licensed responsible party (designee) - Click on Manage Licensed Responsible Parties **
* Individual and Business Entity Producers and Surplus Lines Brokers ONLY - Connecticut no longer requires licensure of Trade/Assumed/DBA names, as long as the name has the same Tax Identification Number as a Producer-licensed entity or individual . To use such name, the name must be registered. Prior to registering a DBA name with this Department, you need to determine if you are required to have a separate Tax Identification Number for your business name. Please check with your attorney, accountant, or visit the Internal Revenue Service web site's EIN requirements page Employer ID Numbers (EINs). To determine if there are business name registration requirements in the town/city in which the business is located, please check with the town/city Clerk's office.
** All Business Entities - If insurance business is conducted under a business name, Connecticut requires the firm and at least one owner, partner, officer, director or other designated/responsible person to be licensed. The business entity’s total authority cannot exceed the combined authority of its Connecticut-licensed owners, partners, officers, directors, or other designated/responsible persons.
