Bridge Mounted Dry Hydrant Workshops and Dry Hydrant Video
  The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) has just completed a new 5-minute video on dry hydrants and fire protection. They are also offering two (duplicate workshops) on Bridge Mounted Dry Hydrants scheduled for July 9th and 10th.

NFPA’s Annual Firefighter Fatality Report
  NFPA reports 64 on-duty firefighter deaths in 2012, the second lowest annual total in 35 years.

USFA Report: Residential Building Fires (2009-2011)
  An estimated 360,900 residential building fires were reported to U.S. fire departments each year and caused 2,495 deaths, 13,250 injuries and $7 billion in property losses. Cooking was the leading cause of these fires.

  The next scheduled Seminar Series titled Photovoltaic Safety for Firefighters is scheduled for Friday June 7, 2013. This class has been approved for 8 Fire Marshal credits by the Office of Education and Data Management.

June and July are peak months for Grilling Fires
  As the Memorial Day Weekend kicks off the unofficial start of summer, grillers everywhere are dusting off their spatulas and are eager to let the grilling season commence. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is recommending that grillers be mindful of safety, especially as the peak months for grilling fires, June and July, approach.

Seven People Die Each Day in Reported U.S. Home Fires
  NFPA releases new report on home fire statistics. The National Fire Protection Association’s new report on home fires shows that U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated annual average of 366,600 home structure fires from 2007-2011.
