Flanagan Scholarship Application
  This scholarship program was established in 1974 by the Connecticut State Firefighters Association, the Connecticut Fire Chief’s Association, the Connecticut Fire Marshal’s Association, and the Connecticut Fire Department Instructors Association to honor the memory of Andrew J. Flanagan.

Entry-Level Fire Service Training Reimbursement
  The Commission on Fire Prevention and Control has updated the policy and procedures for the Entry-Level Fire Service Training Reimbursement program. Municipalities, municipal fire departments and state agency fire departments are now eligible to be reimbursed for one-half cost of Firefighter I or Recruit Firefighter training of volunteer and career personnel who achieve state certification. Reimbursement has been capped at a maximum rate of $300 for FFI and $2887.50 for the 14 week Recruit Firefighter training programs or equivalent.

Commission Receives Donation
  At their October 28, 2008 meeting, the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control received a donation from the Connecticut Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society.

Hazmat Awareness and Operations 2008 Edition
  The adoption of updated editions for two NFPA standards presents new aspects for the future certification of Connecticut firefighters, including the opportunity for certification of Hazardous Materials competencies.

2008 Seminar Series
  The fifth presentation of the 2008 Seminar Series is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2008. The seminar will be delivered at Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks. The presenter will be Chief Tim Holman of the German Township, Ohio Fire and EMS speaking on Attitudes In Volunteer & Combination Departments: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

CFPC Administered Supplemental Grant Award Program
  Letters announcing the FY2009 Supplemental Grant Award Program administered by the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control were mailed to eligible volunteer fire companies on July 31st. Local volunteer fire companies that provide emergency response services on designated state limited access highways are eligible for this grant.
