State Fire Administrator’s Message
The Commission on Fire Prevention and Control has had a presence on the world wide web since October, 1996. Since that time there have been minimal improvements to our web page, that is until now. On July 1, 2002, with the assistance of the Connecticut Department of Information Technology (DOIT), we cut over a completely new agency portal site. The new site was designed to be compliant with new standards established by DOIT in addition to meeting the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The Commission’s web page is the pilot design for all future state agency web pages.
While our staff continues to transition to the new site it is our primary goal to improve site content management. The new site also provides the ability to subscribe to several content specific e-Mail alert notification functions. Long range web goals of the agency include electronic commerce to enhance the Connecticut Fire Academy’s Bookstore operation in addition to online registration and secure electronic posting of certification testing results. With the new web site format comes some additional responsibility for site management. As the Commission has no dedicated Information Technology staff we rely upon the talents of our staff who have absorbed the additional responsibilities with style.

The Commission has had a long and proud tradition of serving Connecticut’s Fire and Emergency Service providers. We also provide many of the same services to business and industry in our great state and beyond. Most services can be offered at your site or at the Connecticut Fire Academy facility in Windsor Locks. Whether you are familiar with our services or not, I hope you will gain a sense that we are fire and emergency services people serving other fire and emergency services people. We care about you and our demanding profession.
Thank you for your interest in our agency and please let us know how we’re doing and whether we are meeting your expectations. Always feel free to contact me or any of our dedicated staff. We look forward to serving you!
Yours in fire safety.
