 Greater Hartford Public Safety Academy
  The Capitol Region Education Council in July will offer a free public safety summer academy at the CREC Metropolitan Learning Center, located in Bloomfield, CT for middle school students from Greater Hartford.
 
 Leadership I, II and III classes
  The Connecticut Fire Academy in cooperation with the National Fire Academy present 3 leadership classes over the next year at the Connecticut Fire Academy
 
 Big Rig Rescue Both Classes Full
  There will be two classes of Big Rig Rescue offered each two days in length, the first class is Thursday October 30 and Friday October 31 the second class will be Saturday November 1 and Sunday November 2.
 
 Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist I
  The Connecticut Fire Academy in cooperation with the National Fire Academy and Cromwell Fire Department present the National Fire Academy's Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist I class on Saturday September 27 and Sunday September 28, 2008.
 
 2009 Connecticut Fire Officer's Weekend
  Applications are now available for the 2009 Connecticut Fire Officer's Weekend at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland March 27, 28, 29.
 
 2009 Seminar Series
  The final 2009 Seminar Series presentation will be Friday December 4, 2009. The subject will be Think Like an Incident Commander presented by Deputy Chief Thomas Dunne FDNY dealing with Fireground staffing, tactics, geography and construction. An analysis of the specific tactical and strategic challenges will be used in regards to strip mall fires during the presentation. The Seminar Series will be held at the Connecticut Fire Academy.
 
 IAFF-IAFC-ACE Peer Fitness Trainer Workshop
  The purpose of the IAFF-IAFC-ACE PFT certification program is to provide a fitness trainer standard consistent with the health and fitness needs of the Fire Service throughout the United States and Canada. The Peer Fitness Trainer (PFT) program was created so interested fire department personnel could obtain certification in fitness-program design and implementation in order to help their peers with their fitness programs on a one-on-one basis and to help with the physical training of recruits.
 
 2009 Grant Writing Workshops
  The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical services organizations.
 
 HAZ MAT Seminar Explosives/IED Awareness
  Wednesday December 8, 2010 is the next presentation of the Haz Mat Seminar. This program is designed to make the First Responder aware of the potential threats and dangers of Explosives and Improvised Explosive Devices, known as IEDs; and the impact on Response and Mitigation in today’s world. The instructors are all members of Law Enforcement and many are members of the New Haven / Yale Police Bomb Squad and work very closely with the NHASH regional Hazardous Materials Response Team as well as other responders. In the class, students will received an overview of Explosives, IEDs, Clandestine Labs, Bomb Threats and Booby Traps, Emergency Response Procedures, Bombing Investigations, Large Vehicle and Suicide Bombers as well as a K-9 Demonstration. Course # 11029 fee $40.00 with lunch included.
 
 Fire Protection Systems for Emergency Operations
  The Connecticut Fire Academy in cooperation with the National Fire Academy presents an in-depth six day class on Fire Protection Systems for Emergency Operations.
 
 Crew Resource Management: From the Flight Deck to the Firehouse
  The Connecticut Fire Academy released a new class at June Fire School in 2008 entitled Crew Resource Management: From the Flight Deck to the Firehouse. This class will be delivered again Thursday evening March 26, 2009 in Southington.
 
 2009 Introduction to the Fire Service
  This program targets Junior Firefighters, Cadet Firefighters,and BSA Explorers who are affiliated with a municipal Fire Department and are between the ages of 14-17 years old. Session one, June 24-28 is for ages 16-17 and Session two, July 6-10 is for ages 14-15.

 Protect Yourself! HazMat PPE Train the Trainer
  Due to a last minute grant opportunity this course is tuition free. The goal of this program is to provide Instructors Training in the proper level, use and procedures of Specialized Per-sonal Protective Clothing for a Hazardous Material or Weapons of Mass Destruction environment.

 CFA “Pilot” class of Combined Fire Officer I & II
  The Connecticut Fire Academy is offering a “Pilot” class of Combined Fire Officer I and II. The course is offered free of charge to candidates selected, course costs are being paid for by a FEMA/NFA State Training Grant. The Course will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays beginning August 6, 2012. All Classes must be attended to attain completion and be eligible for Certification Testing.

 Illinois Fire Service Institute Announces Autism Awareness Program
  The Autism Awareness program was developed by IFSI in partnership with the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal. It was created in response to the need for responders to be aware of how a person with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may respond differently during emergency situations.
