| Model Child Welfare Law Offices to open in New Haven and Waterford September 2008 |
| | The Commission on Child Protection has awarded contracts in response to an RFP for a pilot Multi-Disciplinary Child Welfare Law Office to New Haven Legal Assistance Association and the South Eastern Connecticut Center for Juvenile Justice. These offices will provide holistic representation to some of the children served by the New Haven and Waterford Juvenile Courts as a two year pilot project. |

| | Pursuant to C.G.S 46b-123c(3) the Commission on Child Protection hereby issues the attached Standards of Practice to be used by attorneys as a guide to providing competent and zealous advocacy for their clients. Please note the Standards were updated on 12/29/06 with minor changes and an Appendix added to the parent's standards containing Rule 1.14 as amended. |

| NEW STANDING ORDER: |
| | REPORTING CHILD’S POSITION AT PERMANENCY PLAN REVIEW HEARINGS
1. Prior to a hearing on a motion to review a permanency plan ("MRP"), the attorney for the child who is the subject of the proceedings shall consult directly with the child, in an age appropriate manner, regarding the content of the plan and the child’s position on the plan.
2. The child’s attorney shall submit the child’s position on the plan in writing, prior to or at the MRP hearing.
