If you are experiencing a vision loss that makes simple daily tasks difficult or impossible, you may be eligible for services from the Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB). Talk to your eye care professional, physician, or a neurologist about submitting an eye report form to BESB. Would you like to help a blind neighbor by driving, shopping, reading, or sorting their mail? Call the Volunteer Coordinator at 800-842-4510 for more information and an application. BESB HAPPENINGS: EMPLOYERS! -- BESB can offer on-the-job training funds and tax incentives when you hire a BESB job referral candidate. For more information, select the "Services for Employers" link under the Vocational Rehabilitation Section of this page. BESB's Strategic Planning Committee is pleased to announce the availability of a new vehicle sticker that promotes public awareness of the law to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians who are blind. This sticker is now on a variety of state vehicles and construction vehicles across the state. If you would like a sticker for a vehicle in your family or organization, please contact the agency at (800) 842-4510 or send an email to: brian.sigman@ct.gov.
