AGING SERVICES: May is Older Americans Month: "Age Out Loud"

{Older Americans Month logo with text - celebrate aging with SDA #OAM17 #AgeOutLoud}
The State Department on Aging will use Older Americans Month (OAM) 2017 to focus on how older adults in our community are redefining aging— as a phase of life where interests, goals and dreams can get a new or second start. This is done in many ways, through work, family or personal interests, by taking charge of your health, volunteerism and advocacy efforts.
The annual observance of OAM offers a special opportunity to learn about, support and recognize our nation’s older citizens. The SDA is joining efforts with the Administration for Community Living (ACL) to embrace this year’s theme, “Age Out Loud” that emphasizes the ways older adults are living their lives with boldness, confidence and passion while eliminating outdated perceptions and living the way that suits them best.
The SDA wants to know what it means to age out loud to you! Throughout the month of May, the State Department on Aging will elicit stories from older adults in Connecticut and share them on social media. We encourage you to share this with those you know who age out loud!
Join the State Department on Aging and Administration for Community Living as we speak up for #OAM17 and #AgeOutLoud this May! Ways to share your story: email, Twitter and Facebook.
