SDA submits Draft State Plan on Aging.
Every three or four years, the State Department on Aging develops the State Plan on Aging. The draft plan covers the period from October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2017. The plan has been reviewed and approved by the Governor, and has been sent to the Administration for Community Living for final approval.
Some highlights of the draft plan include new strategies to promote healthy aging, combat elder abuse, streamline information and referral functions, engage in shared planning across agencies, and fine-tune evidence-based program management, including reviewing data collection practices. The plan seeks to augment and align with other state plans and initiatives, including the Rebalancing Plan, Long Term Support Services Plan, and the Livable Communities Initiative.
