March is National Nutrition Month, a time to return to the basics of healthful eating. This year, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics encourages you to savor the flavor of eating right.
How, when, why and where you eat are all just as important as what you eat. Take time to enjoy the traditions and appreciate the pleasures, great flavors and social experiences food can add to your life.
Develop a mindful eating pattern that includes nutritious and flavorful foods.  Your plan should include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fat-free or low-fat dairy and lean proteins and limit added sugars, salt and saturated fats.

Remember to include physical activity for at least 30 minutes every day.

For more information visit the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for tips sheets, nutrition handouts and more on healthy eating or contact your local Area Agency on Aging and ask to speak with someone from the nutrition program.
