Comments requested for Connecticut’s Workforce Plan for the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

July 27, 2012

Dear Aging Network, Workforce Network, Older Adults and Professionals:

I am pleased to present you with a draft copy of Connecticut’s Workforce Plan for the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) for the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2016.

Every four years, the Department of Social Services, Aging Services Division (State Unit on Aging) develops a Workforce Plan for SCSEP.  The federal Department of Labor requires that each state submit and receive approval for its SCSEP workforce plan.

The goals for our SCSEP Workforce Plan are:

Goal 1:            Connect SCSEP participants to placements of unsubsidized
                      employment

Goal 2:            Strengthen and expand the core services of the Senior
Community Service Employment Program provided to older
                      workers in Connecticut.

I welcome your comments on this Plan.  There are two ways you may provide your comments:

1.      By E-Mail:  Please send an e-mail to Jennifer.Gorman@ct.gov

2.      By Voice Mail:  Please call toll-free 1-866-218-6631 and leave a
       detailed voice mail message.

I encourage you to share this with other interested parties.  In order for your comments to be included in the Plan, please make sure you submit them by Tuesday, August 7, 2012.  We look forward to hearing from you to implement the plan for the future employment services provided to Connecticut’s Older Workers.

Please follow this link to view the SCSEP Workforce Plan.

Sincerely,

Margaret Gerundo-Murkette
Acting Director, State Unit on Aging
