The History of ADRCs in Connecticut:
STEP 1:
Aging Services Division Hosts Connecticut's First Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Planning Meeting!
On Tuesday, June 19th, 2007 the State Unit on Aging hosted a planning meeting at The Wadsworth Mansion at Long Hill Estate in Middletown to kick off discussions regarding Aging and Disability Resource Centers, also known as ADRCs, coming to Connecticut.
Greg Case, Acting Director of the Center for Planning and Policy Development, Administration on Aging, presented an overview and introduction to ADRCs and a preliminary introduction to various ADRC model types.
Carrie Blakeway of the Lewin Group presented on ADRC models, their variations, successful partnerships and lessons learned.
By the conclusion of the meeting a wide array of topics were covered as they pertain to the inception of ADRCs in Connecticut.
STEP 2:
In follow-up to the initial ADRC meeting, the State Unit on Aging (SUA) applied for and was selected to receive funding from the Administration on Aging for the Nursing Home Diversion Modernization grant.
In addition, a Statewide ADRC Steering Committee was created and now meets on a regular basis.
