EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. SIX

WHEREAS, the Executive Chambers Conservancy, Inc., a non-profit corporation, was established in 1995, in response to Governor John G. Rowland’s Executive Order No. One, as amended by Executive Order No. One-A and Executive Order No. 1B, for the purpose of refurbishing, decorating and improving the executive chambers of the Governor of the State of Connecticut within the State Capitol (“Executive Chambers”); and

WHEREAS, the Executive Chambers Conservancy, Inc., previously raised private funds and collected in-kind contributions from private donors for the benefit of the Executive Chambers; and

WHEREAS, the Executive Chambers Conservancy, Inc., succeeded in substantially improving the appearance of the Executive Chambers and therefore achieved its purpose; and

WHEREAS, the Executive Chambers no longer need significant refurbishment, decorating or improvement.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, M. JODI RELL, Governor of the State of Connecticut, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of the State do hereby ORDER AND DIRECT:

1.         That Governor John G. Rowland’s Executive Order No. One, as amended by Executive Order No. One-A and Executive Order No. 1B, is repealed;

2.         That the Board of Directors of the Executive Chambers Conservancy, Inc. (“Corporation”), consider dissolving or terminating the Corporation, given that the Corporation has accomplished its intended purpose and the Executive Order, as amended from time to time, under which the Corporation was established is no longer in effect;

3.         That upon dissolution or termination of the Corporation, in accordance with applicable laws, and after paying all lawful debts of the Corporation, the Board of Directors deliver and convey all remaining real and personal property and assets of the Corporation to the State of Connecticut for such exclusively charitable or educational purposes relating to the Executive Chambers, consistent with the Certificate of Incorporation of the Executive Chambers Conservancy, Inc.; and

4.         That this order shall take effect immediately.
