  Governor Rell is urging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to quickly adopt its proposed new and more stringent standards on smog that would improve the air quality in the Northeast and sanction upwind states to the south and west where smog-causing pollutants are generated.

1/21/2010Gov. Rell: Rebates Available for Energy Efficient Appliances
  The rebate program begins, Monday, January 25th and will run through April 30, 2010. Information and appliance rebate forms can be found at: www.ct.gov/opm/ApplianceRebates and from the Connecticut electric utility companies. Rebate forms will also be available in retail stores after February 1. If a consumer needs a rebate form to be mailed to them, they may call 1-877-WISE-USE or 1-877- 947-3873.

  Checks can be made payable to the “Connecticut Association of Schools” with a notation on the check memo line identifying “Haitian Relief Fund.” Children, their parents and others who want to help this special effort may bring their monetary donation to participating local schools or to a Bank of America branch.

  Gov. Rell reminded users of the state Unemployment Insurance (UI) system that Connecticut’s UI call centers are now open on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., part of sweeping service improvements Governor Rell has ordered including major upgrades to the Internet-based process for filing and continuing claims and an ongoing expansion of the telephone-based portion of the filing system.
