UPDATED: Consumer Alert Regarding Anthem Data Breach

Feb. 11 update: Anthem is working with a vendor to provide free credit monitoring and identity theft protection for two years to those potentially affected by the cyber attack. Consumers will be able to sign up for these services beginning Friday, February 13. Information on how to enroll will be posted at www.anthemfacts.com

Anthem is advising people to be aware of scam email campaigns targeting current and former Anthem members. Anthem is also NOT making any outbound calls to customers regarding the cyber attack. Anthem will contact current and former members via mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service about the cyber-attack with specific information on how to enroll in credit monitoring. Anthem has issued the following information on scam emails.

Anthem has set up a special website – www.anthemfacts.com – to answer customer questions. Customers can also call Anthem’s special toll-free number 877-263-7995. The company will be contacting current and former customers directly affected and will be offering free credit monitoring and identity protection services.

The Connecticut Insurance Department is working closely with Anthem to assess the impact to Connecticut customers and ensure there are plans in place to protect Connecticut policyholders.
