Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00992, Rte. 44 over Quinebaug River, in the town of Putnam.
The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the superstructure of the bridge, and in the process, restore its aesthetic value. It is identified as State Project No. 115-114.
Two utility poles on the north side of the roadway near the west approach to the bridge may need to be temporarily relocated. There are underground utilities within the project limits that will also require relocation. Temporary work areas will need to be acquired.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in summer 2013, with construction anticipated to start in fall 2013, based on the availability of funding. Construction activities are anticipated to last approximately one construction season. The estimated construction cost for the proposed improvements under this project is approximately $2.4 million, to be funded by 80 percent Federal and 20 percent State funds. There will be no Town funds required for the project.
The Public Informational Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning the proposed project.
Plans will be available for public review. CTDOT personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project.
