Why We Are Celebrating
Hunters and anglers have been at the forefront of the conservation movement for over 100 years. They showed their support by requesting taxes and special fees on hunting and fishing equipment to help pay for wildlife and fish management, habitat restoration, and other conservation programs through the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration (WSFR) Program.
Do you need special accommodations?
If you have a special need or accommodation (persons with disabilities), please contact the Wildlife Division at 860-424-3011 or email at least 10 days prior to the event.
Take the National Hunting and Fishing Day Pledge and Win!
Hunters and anglers - pledge to take someone new hunting or fishing between now and National Hunting and Fishing Day on Saturday, September 23, and you'll be eligible to win a Richard Childress Racing VIP race weekend package! (This not affiliated directly with CT DEEP.)
To pledge to take someone hunting, target shooting, or fishing, visit and be entered to win two amazing prize packages. The first prize is two passes to a future NASCAR race, which includes pit and garage passes, garage and team hauler tours, and an opportunity to meet team owner and NASCAR legend Richard Childress. The second and grand prize package is a two-night stay at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri's Ozark Mountains including passes to Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail and Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum, shotgun sports at Bass Pro Shops' Outdoor Shooting Academy, and passes to Johnny Morris' Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium, opening September 21, 2017.
Each new hunter and angler created helps fund conservation. Every time someone buys firearms, ammunition, archery equipment, motorboat fuel, or fishing tackle, they contribute to habitat conservation and science-based wildlife management through the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration (WSFR) program.
