Education and Other Information

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's (DEEP), Inland Wetlands Management Section, offers a comprehensive training program and continuing education workshops for municipal inland wetlands agency members and staff.  The training and workshops are offered annually and deal with the legal, administrative and technical requirements of the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Act, as well as other related state and federal laws.  Continuing education workshops may also cover such subjects as: wetland soils,  the functions and values of wetlands, construction practices and procedures in and around wetlands, wetland vegetation identification, and site plan review.

In addition to providing educational opportunities, the Inland Wetlands Management Section provides a variety of technical assistance and services to municipal inland wetlands agencies and the general public including: providing assistance with municipal wetlands regulations, coordinating citizen complaints, providing updates on new wetlands legislation, and maintaining a database of agency decisions.
