The Healthcare Center at the CT Veterans’ Home provides long term care to veterans with chronic and disabling medical conditions. These conditions include but are not limited to heart and lung disease, stroke, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The program also provides End-of-Life care, Palliative care and Respite care.
The Healthcare Center is licensed by the CT Department of Public Health as a Chronic Disease Hospital.
To qualify for admission to the Healthcare Center a veteran must:
- Submit an application in advance
- Submit a report of medical history and physical examination
- Pass an eligibility check
- Have a chronic medical condition or need which requires skilled nursing care or requires 24 hour assistance or supervision with activities of daily living
At times, admission may be deferred until an appropriate bed is available.
